Mother’s Day is a day for saying “Thank You” to all mothers
for doing the best they can with what they have and know and a day of
reciprocity.

Role reversal Mothering Sunday
Today is the day when mothers should feel cherished, valued
& extra special. To relish the
feeling of putting their feet up, reading the Sunday newspaper and not having
to cross the kitchen threshold. Instead
the children, if old enough or partner/husband should be making breakfast for
their mothers just as she usually does for her family throughout the year.
Sunday lunch at home or at a restaurant could still be on
the menu but this time it will not be mother who created it but she should be on
the receiving end so that they are aware of all the hard work and effort that
goes into it. Today should be a day when
family members express their gratitude to their mothers in either the form of
written or spoken words, cards, chocolates or flowers. Telling her how much she is appreciated for all
that she has done to help mould them into the individuals they are today. For juggling all the daily tasks involved in
looking after the family; trying to create a work life balance, whether in a
career or as a full time mother, and for keeping up appearances even though she might
be exhausted and not feeling that way underneath.
