New Mothers

After working with numerous clients we have discovered that feeling and looking better work hand in hand and that enduring beauty blooms from inside out.  Just like a blossom.  This is particularly symbolic of pregnant women whose bodies are constantly changing and with it they exude the glow of bringing a new life into the world. Like a small budding flower that reaches full bloom.

However, after the birth and when their normal routine has been thrown into disarray, it is common for some women to feel a little less confident as their personal identity quickly begins to merge under the umbrella of being “Mum”.  Some mothers find it challenging to lose their baby weight or even to find the time to dedicate to this.  The early stages of motherhood become a period of selflessness where you end up putting your needs on the back burner.  As a result, you can start to feel “unattractive” when you can no longer fit into the clothes you previously wore and this could have an impact on relationships with your partners or husbands.

We believe that this is an ideal time for personal and image coaching sessions as the attention and focus will be totally on you.  Through this fun and interesting experience we will support you to achieve your goals, build your confidence and prepare you for entering or re-entering the job market. We will also create a personal image that compliments you and teach you skills for easy maintenance.

Self-esteem

"Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you're right."

  --  Henry Ford

Self-esteem is a reflection of a person’s overall emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. Who we believe we are based on our own and others perceptions of us whether in a positive or negative form has an overall affect on our self-esteem.  It is our foundation or core, but if it has not been nurtured and positively reinforced from childhood it can weaken during life’s challenges.

If you believe that you can do something or will give it a good try, and learn from the experience, regardless of the outcome, then you probably have high self-esteem.  However, if you believe that you will fail at something before you even start because of past experiences or a lack of confidence then it could be a form of self-fulfilling prophecy.  Regardless, if you are prepared to not give into your negative thoughts and dig deep inside to find your inner courage and confidence you could turn the situation around.

Your self-esteem can be derived from a healthy mind, body and soul, so just like a healthy lifestyle you need to look after it, work hard to get the desired results and reward successes and milestones.  It can fluctuate from time to time but try to overcome negativity and do things that build it up if it has been knocked.  Confidence is closely linked to self esteem and if you build each of them up they will make a complimentary team and contribute to your overall happiness.
Low self esteem can have a negative affect on your body image and how you see yourself.
Think of your self-esteem and confidence as a set of weighing scales.  Try to keep them balanced and if you feel either of them getting low because of an experience that didn’t go too well or it triggered something negative from your past, try to do something new you like and enjoy, spend time with positive friends and family in order to build it up, so that it regains it’s balance.  The good thing about self-esteem and confidence is that now matter how low they get, they can be built up.  Even though your negative “inner critic” might rear its head from time to time, you will be in a stronger position to be able to challenge and overcome it and get pleasure from proving it wrong.  The more you do to strengthen your self-esteem the weaker your “inner critic” will become.

Image and Personal Coaching for Youth

With unemployment at an all time high, it is important that young adults can present themselves in the best possible way and create the right impression with future employees.

Young adults might spend the majority of their teenage years wearing similar clothes so that they “fit in” and do not draw attention to themselves but as they enter the job market it is important to have the right personal image and exude the confidence that enables them to stand out from the crowd.

Visual Reference - Teen Vogue online
Image and personal coaching can make a lasting difference to the lives of young people and can help them to develop self-awareness, personal growth, confidence & self-esteem.

As a result, they will also develop a better understanding of personal identity and its relationship to visual expression in order to feel and look better at:

  • Important college events
  • Job interviews
  • Dates
  • Family events

At Chrysalis Studios we will help them to increase their confidence by conducting mock interviews and giving them constructive feedback throughout. We will also explain the importance of body language, and show them how to create the right image for important events.

Time For Change

Beyonce Knowles, Salma Hayek Pinault and Gucci creative director Frida Giannini have joined forces to co-found Chime For Change, a new global campaign to raise funds and awareness for girls' and women's empowerment, backed by Italian fashion house Gucci and Chrysalis Studios is also going to support this project.

Since our first Chrysalis Studios workshop in October 2007 we have shared the very similar mission statement and have been supporting several charities in the UK. It is time for change, to unlock hidden potential, increase confidence, appreciate our body image and support women to achieve their most fulfilling lives.

"We have reached a significant moment in the history of girls' and women's empowerment and now is the time for change. I think it is essential for girls and women to see and celebrate what is possible says Frida Giannini.

Salma, Hayek, says ''I believe that by working together we can change the course of history to ensure that girls and women are empowered to realise their potential and thrive.''

Role reversal Mothering Sunday

Today is the day when mothers should feel cherished, valued & extra special.  To relish the feeling of putting their feet up, reading the Sunday newspaper and not having to cross the kitchen threshold. Instead the children, if old enough or partner/husband should be making breakfast for their mothers just as she usually does for her family throughout the year.

Sunday lunch at home or at a restaurant could still be on the menu but this time it will not be mother who created it but she should be on the receiving end so that they are aware of all the hard work and effort that goes into it.  Today should be a day when family members express their gratitude to their mothers in either the form of written or spoken words, cards, chocolates or flowers.  Telling her how much she is appreciated for all that she has done to help mould them into the individuals they are today.  For juggling all the daily tasks involved in looking after the family; trying to create a work life balance, whether in a career or as a full time mother, and for keeping up appearances even though she might be exhausted and not feeling that way underneath.

Mother’s Day is a day for saying “Thank You” to all mothers for doing the best they can with what they have and know and a day of reciprocity.

February is now the new January!

The snow has cleared, the weather is milder & the feel good factor has started to return after the highlights and celebrations of Christmas and the New Year.

At the beginning of the year we put so much pressure on ourselves to set goals, lose weight or find that special person that when we don’t feel motivated enough to keep them up, we feel disheartened and are our own worst enemies.

One way to overcome this might be to view January as being our well-deserved month off!  A time for us to take care of ourselves, be self-indulgent, watch our favourite movies with a box of chocolates to hand, and to just be happy “living and appreciating the now” rather than “striving to do”.  Then towards the end of the month we will begin to feel like a bear coming out of hibernation, recharged, revitalized and ready to embrace life and what lies ahead.

In February, aside from the constant bombarding from advertising tools that Valentine’s Day is fast approaching - which is great if you already have a partner but not always the case if you don’t - we can relax, reflect on the highs and lows from the previous year and begin where we left off.

"Chrysalis Studios helped me change career and also find love."  F.
February might then be the right time to focus more clearly on what you would `like to do` or `no longer continue to do’ for the rest of the year.  It could be as simple as empowering yourself to say “no” to things you don’t really want to do just because it is the easier option, by being more courageous and finding your voice.  Or taking up a new hobby or sport so that you create the opportunity to improve your skills and also meet new people.
Unlike other lifestyle services, gyms or weight loss clubs who push their clients to make changes in the first week of January. We believe there is so much pressure on an individual that it not sustainable.  At Chrysalis Studios we adopt a different approach and give our clients time for reflection and prefer to start with new routines and changes in February.

Whatever you decide to do and when is up to you, but if you continue to do the same things you will get the same results so taking the first steps towards change is where it all begins…….

New Year, Better You!

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year when we all come together to spend time with our friends, families and loved ones. As the New Year approaches and we celebrate and say goodbye to the old year and welcome in the New, we excitedly look forward to what lies ahead. For some undoubtedly 2013 will be better than 2012 and for others they might have hopes of love, success & happiness. But is it simply enough to leave it to HOPE?
Take a look at the list of top 10 New Year’s resolutions http://pittsburgh.about.com/od/holidays/tp/resolutions.htm

Statistics show that less than a quarter of those who set resolutions will actually stick to them.

However, at Chrysalis Studios we believe that with the right level of support we can genuinely help you to achieve them. Whether it is trying to lose weight, changing career or asking for promotion, or looking for someone special in your life, we believe that we can keep you motivated and on track to achieving your goals, ambitions and resolutions for the New Year.

All you need to do is be committed enough to take that first step and find out what makes us confident in our “Working From The Inside Out” approach that has brought success to numerous others.
