Chrysalis Studios brings a touch of glitz and glamour to the countryside in the Women’s Workshop

Chrysalis Studios was invited to a rural town hall on the outskirts of Garston to bring some glamour & sparkle from London into the lives of the female inhabitants. The audience comprised of wives, mothers, singletons and local business owners.

At the beginning of the evening we held a prize draw and the winner was given a live makeover session and life coaching session during the workshop. The excited audience were all keen to find out if they had been the lucky one and as most of them didn’t have the time or inclination to wear make-up and couldn’t remember the last time they had invested in their own personal development.

The winner was announced, and the cheers from the audience confirmed that Caroline was indeed a worthy recipient. She had spent a great deal of her life working for charities and good causes and was always putting the needs of others before herself. In fact she shared with the audience that she had not visited a hairdresser nor had her make up done in the past twenty years.

During the evening there were some coaching exercises and the audience were
interactive and excited to discover why certain beliefs shaped their behaviours
and what might be potentially holding them back from achieving their goals and ambitions.

Personal stories were shared and the audience recognised that by opening up to each other they strengthened their bond as a community. There were laughter and tears as they regaled the high and low moments in their lives.

Whilst the live make over demonstration with Caroline took place, others asked for tips on how to apply their make up in the quickest time possible and what style of clothes would best compliment their body shapes.

You can see the results of Caroline’s makeover session in her before and after pictures above and she was also given a coaching session which revealed that she had an underlying passion to be a writer. She was so excited about pursuing this that she committed to the audience that she would sign up for a creative writing course by the end of the year.

Chrysalis studios has since received emails from the participants of this workshop telling us how inspiring it had been and how it would be a catalyst for positive change in their lives.

Get inspired by the clients of Chrysalis Studios - Jane's story

Chrysalis Studios would like to introduce you to one of our clients, Jane, who has given us permission to share her story and experience.

She had been married for 25 years with grown up children and felt it was now the right time for her to invest in herself. She has a job which is quite physical so is unable to wear smart clothes to work and in the evenings when she gets home she is so exhausted that she does not feel like dressing up.  Jane came to us looking for ways to rebuild her confidence and make her feel more feminine and attractive.

Jane wished to look more feminine

After a few sessions at Chysalis Studios you could see that Jane’s whole posture and body language was changing into that of a confident, successful woman.  She began to realize and appreciate that she was a wonderful wife and mother, was proud of her achievements and that she had been a great support system for her family.  However, somewhere along the line she had lost a bit of her own identity and decided it was time to give back to herself and celebrate the person she had become through her challenges and life experiences.

Jane after structured coaching and makeover sessions

As part of her image coaching sessions, we gave her examples of what her make-up might look like using some of her own products which she had in her make-up bag, but only used on special occasions. We also demonstrated how she could adapt her image with the right make-up and hair style in just a few steps.

The key thing about image coaching is to create a style that is easily maintainable for the client’s lifestyle and to teach them how to do this independently as part of their daily routine. As Jane told us, she felt that getting some simple and straightforward advice helped her to use the minimal amount of make-up and hair products but still look groomed, glamorous and sophisticated and ready to face the world.

What do you think about Jane's new image? Let us know in the comments.

There is no greater blessing in life than happy children - but this becomes a challenge if your child's happiness is affected by various health problems. Chrysalis Studios are a proud sponsor of "The Children's Trust" foundation which provides care for children with acquired brain injuries and multiple disabilities, and thus helps less fortunate children live the best life possible.

As big admirers of the foundation's work, we would like to help as much as we can. Below is a thank you letter we have just recieved from Kate Weston, manager of VIP Relationships of "The Children's Trust", .

Why it is important that we support charities

Chrysalis Studios have been supporting several charities and fundraising for charitable events since they were first established in 2006 and amongst them is The Children’s Trust. This national charity works with children with acquired brain injury, multiple disabilities and complex health needs and their vision is to give the children the opportunity to live the best life possible.

Charities and fundraising for charitable events we have loved supporting

One of the main values of Chrysalis Studios is to make a positive difference to the lives of others and this includes volunteering their time and services to support great causes and help the less fortunate, from children to vulnerable adults.

Is beauty in the eye of the beholder or does it go beyond being skin deep?

When you look in the mirror, what do you see? Is it a reflection of how you actually see yourself or what you would like to see?

With the latest addictive offering of Celebrity Big Brother gracing our TV screens, maybe it is time for us to take the focus of being spectators in other people’s lives and start to examine ourselves.

© Chrysalis Studios

So the next time you have a spare moment look at yourself on a deeper level (not just skin deep) and examine your qualities.

Ask yourself the following questions or create your own:

  • Are there any personal goals/ambitions that I have achieved and am proud of?
  • Have I been kind, thoughtful or considerate to someone recently?
  • Did I smile at someone and make their day?
  • Have I gone out of my way to be helpful (small things count, like giving up your seat on a crowded train to someone in need, or helping someone down the stairs in the underground with their buggy or suitcase?)

Even if you have been able of answer yes to one of these questions then give yourself a pat on the back because an act of kindness or personal achievement can be a beautiful thing.
